What started as a fun summer day for 14-year-old Chel'mar Townsend ended in tragedy on Monday, July 10.
Chel'mar, who went by MarMar, "was doing what a normal teenager would do in the summer, just hanging out in the neighborhood park," his family said on a GoFundMe, "and sadly, it ended with him running for his life and being shot in his back."
MarMar died at the hospital after the shooting in Millville, the Cumberland County prosecutor said, noting no arrests have been made. Meanwhile, his family is raising funds to celebrate his life.

A second 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Bridgeton, authorities said.
An adult, meanwhile, remains wanted in the case, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
On Tuesday July 6, the teenager was arrested by members of the Bridgeton Police Department and Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. South Jersey Man Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting Child Under 13: Prosecutor
A 31-year-old Cumberland County man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a child under 13 years old, authorities said.
On Thursday, May 25, a jury returned guilty verdicts against Justin Kuhl of Millville, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Specifically, Kuhl was found guilty of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts and second-degree child endangerment, she said.
The charges originated from several incidents that occurred between Jan. 1, 2019, and Sept. 11, 2020, in Millville, the prosecutor said.
