27-Year-Old Hairstylist Killed In Long Island Crash Remembered As 'Passionate, Sweet Soul' Support is pouring in for the family of a 27-year-old woman who was killed in a highway crash on Long Island. Anna Crego, of Brentwood, died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Plainview, according to Nassau County Police. Customers Tackle Mask-Wearing Robber Targeting Capital Region Restaurant, Police Say Several customers came to the rescue when a man claiming to have a gun attempted to rob a business in the region, police said. The Saratoga County incident happened Saturday, Nov. 11, in the town of Halfmoon, at the Mi Mexico Lindo y Taqueria located on Route 9. A man wearing a ski mask entered the restaurant at around 4:30 p.m. and tried robbing employees while claiming to have a gun, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Deadly Weekend: 2 Men Killed In Separate Crashes On Capital Region Roadways Two men are dead following separate crashes involving pedestrians in the region. The first incident happened in Albany County just before midnight Saturday, Nov. 11, in Colonie on Central Avenue. A man walked into the roadway near Fuller Road and was struck by a Ford F-150 truck that was driving westbound, according to Colonie Police. Violent Crime Down Across NY Compared To Last Year, New Report Shows New York state is seeing fewer incidents of violent crime, according to a new report. Data from the first comprehensive overview of crime trends across the state showed a six-percent drop in violent crime outside of New York City during the first half of 2023 compared to the first six months of 2022, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Thursday, Nov. 9. $35K Winning Lottery Ticket Sold At Capital Region Convenience Store A winning lottery ticket worth over $30,000 was sold at a convenience store in the region. The top-prize-winning TAKE 5 ticket, worth $35,415, was sold in Albany County at the Stewart’s Shops in Watervliet, located at 186 Troy Schenectady Road. It was sold for the evening drawing held Tuesday, Nov. 9, New York Lottery announced. TAKE 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39. 16-Year-Old, Second Suspect Nabbed After Robbery, Police Chase In Capital Region Two suspects, including a 16-year-old boy, are behind bars after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint in the region. Police in Rensselaer County were called at around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, for a robbery in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood, near 5th Avenue and 112th Street.
