Clarkstown Schools To Close Monday For Superintendent's Conference Day
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- School will be closed Monday, Feb. 1, during the Clarkstown school district's Superintendent's Conference Day, according to a statement on the district website.Transportation will not be provided for non-public school students, but regular bus routes for special needs children with IEPs will continue uninterrupted, according to the statement. Yonkers Fire Department Mourns Veteran Firefighter Lt. Anthonoy Mangone
YONKERS, N.Y. -- A veteran Yonkers firefighter with a penchant for charity work died Tuesday of natural causes, according to lohud.com. Lt. Anthonoy Mangone, 48, died at his home on Tuesday. He had been a member of the Yonkers Fire Department for more than 21 years, according to lohud.com. Fire Chief Thomas Fitzpatrick Jr. said Mangone was dedicated to the department and fond of working with organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, according to lohud.com. Mohegan Lake Rescue Dog, Missing Since Blizzard, Returns Home
MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- Maddie, a rescue dog missing since last weekend's blizzard, has been returned to her home, according to the Putnam Humane Society.The 6-year-old boxer-beagle mix ran away from her Mohegan Lake home on Saturday. MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- A police raid Thursday at the home of a suspected serial flasher was connected to the search for Lauren Spierer, an Edgemont native missing since June 2011, according to WRTV in Indianapolis.The FBI with the assistance of local authorities searched the home of Justin Wagers, who was arrested in August and charged with stalking and exposing himself to women. Police Charge Yonkers Mom With Leaving Son, 8, Home Alone Overnight
YONKERS, N.Y. -- A 29-year-old mother was arrested early Tuesday after police accused her of leaving her 8-year-old son home alone overnight, according to News 12 Hudson Valley. Michelle Hill was taken into custody about 3 a.m. outside her Burnshan Avenue apartment, according to News 12. Later on Tuesday, Hill was arraigned and charged with reckless endangerment.
